the Corridor aérobique

The Corridor aérobique is a linear park offering visitors a safe and quiet environment. Once a railroad track, the terrain isn’t overly rugged and is intended for everyone: the sporty and not so sporty, families with children, seniors, cyclists, walkers, runners, nature watchers, etc.

The Corridor aérobique crosses the Pays-d’en-Haut RCM and the Laurentides RCM, serving the municipalities of Morin-Heights, Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard, Wentworth-Nord, Lac-des-Seize-Îles, Montcalm, Amherst, Huberdeau, and Arundel. It offers visitors a panoramic view of wooded, agricultural, and natural landscapes as well as eclectic and welcoming village cores.

The Corridor aérobique Park was created following the abandonment of rail service by CN in the early 1960s.

Right of Access

Access to the Corridor aérobique is free in the summer. Winter access requires a fee, though only for cross-country skiing (0 – 8.5 km area).

Note that managers of certain trail systems accessible from the Corridor aérobique may charge an access fee. Please check with the appropriate organizations before starting your hike.

Security and Patrol

A team of volunteer patrollers ride through the park to ensure the visitors’ safety, which is our number one priority. In order to ensure safety between cyclists, pedestrians, and citizens living near the trail, the recommended speed for cyclists is 22 km/h, or 10 km/h when approaching street intersections and in populated areas. Shared Paths

The Corridor aérobique features sections that are shared with motorists. These are short segments in the municipalities of Wentworth-Nord and Lac-des-Seize-Îles, as well as in a village setting in the municipality of Montcalm. While signs indicate the presence of cyclists, vigilance is required at all times.

In the late fall of 1996, the Pays-d’en-Haut and Laurentides RCMs took charge of the management and development of the Corridor aérobique within the framework of a long-term lease agreement laying out the objectives and respective obligations of the signatories. This agreement, signed between RCMs along with the Quebec government, was made possible thanks to strong pressure from the community, particularly from local elected officials, who wished to make this space a driver for economic and tourism development.

As tenants of this former Canadian National Railway railway, the Laurentides and Pays-d’en-Haut RCMs as well as their municipalities are committed to ensuring the sustainability, operation, and recreational/tourism development of an incredible cycling, hiking, and cross-country skiing network.
